Alright, let's get back to our topic - first, you want to is to learn how to read the English alphabet. There are in total 26 letters in English alphabet, and you probably want to memorize them if you would like to get anywhere with this language.
Another thing I recommend you guys and girls to do is to memorize the sounds of English - the consonants and the vowels. The consonants' sounds are really easy to produce, although several sounds, like the sounds of "th" and the "r" sound, may be hard for certain nationalities. There may be other "problematic" consonants, but I'm not going to talk about them in this article - you will certainly recognize these troublesome consonants when you encounter them. Vowels are usually more important to learn, in my opinion, because most problems with accent and pronunciation occur when trying to produce the vowel sounds.
Next thing you want to work on are the size of your vocabulary. It will also help if you write down the words and the phrases you discover - I don't think that there is anyone who would not benefit from writing things down!
Work on your grammar. That's when the textbooks from schools will be useful for you. However, don't think that you will improve your English speaking with just grammar textbooks. Make sure you combine learning grammar with practicing listening to English and speaking it.
